Light is one of the most universal and fundamental symbols. It is the spiritual and the divine, it is illumination and intelligence. Something that makes vision possible. : the sensation aroused.
The colors you see when a rainbow appears are the result of light being split into its various individual wavelengths.
When sunlight hits a rain droplet, some of the light is reflected. The electromagnetic spectrum is made of light with many different wavelengths, and each is reflected at a different angle. Thus, the spectrum is separated, producing a rainbow.
The Power of Light floods through our lives on a daily basis. It is present in so many forms and is arguably the most influential force on how we perceive and connect with the world around us. We live, communicate and celebrate in all of its mediums.
Light travels as waves, a bit like ripples in a tank of water. But unlike sound waves, light waves can travel through empty spaces. This is how we can see stars even though they are billions of miles away. Light waves also travel much faster than sound waves, three hundred million kilometers a second in fact!
Scientists usually refer to light waves as electromagnetic waves because they make up what is known as the electromagnetic spectrum. The term electromagnetic means the waves are both electric and magnetic.
Light waves are just one type of electromagnetic wave. Other electromagnetic waves include the microwaves in your oven, radio waves, and X-rays. Light waves are regarded as a varying electric field.
